Daniel was a founding member of the non-profit group SF Urban Riders in 2007, and is still active in a leadership role.
Daniel is a fourth generation San Franciscan who has been mountain biking for over 25 years. He participated in many early classic bike races among them, the Lemurian Classic, Revenge of the Siskiyous, Downieville, and others that shaped his appreciation for the sport in the early 1990’s. Daniel continues to ride a 29er hard tail by choice.
In 1996 he experienced trail building for the first time by working with the Bicycle Trails Council of Marin on the Camp Tamarancho project. Daniel has continued working on other trail projects with Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay, the Trail Center, V-O-CAL, SF Rec & Park, and the National Forest Service. On National Trail Day in June of 2004 he volunteered on Mount Sutro for the first time, and became a founding member of the Mount Sutro Stewards. In 2007 the UCSF and Mount Sutro Stewards were recognized with a San Francisco Beautiful Award for their unique stewardship project.
Professionally, Daniel has over 20 years experience in alternative distribution and marketing, as well as traditional retail sales and event promotions having worked for the Alaskan Brewing Company, Caroline Distribution, Relativity Entertainment Distribution, and Tower Records.
Following a downturn in the music industry, Daniel worked in the non-profit sector building a mountain bike program with the Presidio Y-Bike program, and leading corporate volunteer projects with Hands On Bay Area. Daniel currently works for the American Cancer Society as a fundraiser in San Francisco, and enjoys the job of bringing the community together to fight back against cancer and save lives.
